MVEA Supports Our Local Senior Citizens
Tri-Lakes Silver Alliance was recently awarded a $5,000 grant by the Operation Round Up program, sponsored by Mountain View Electric Association. The Operation Round Up program was formed to assist nonprofit organizations, communities with special needs, and individuals who have suffered from loss, personal disaster or medical emergencies. The very generous grant was presented to Program Coordinator, Sue Walker, at the MVEA Falcon office by the MVEA Board members and Operation Round Up grant committee. Sue thanked the Round Up board for their support and confidence in the Silver Alliance programs, which are focused on enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens in the Tri-Lakes area.
The Operation Round Up program is funded by MVEA area customers volunteering to have their monthly electric bill “rounded up” to the next whole dollar. This small monthly amount from customers, which averages about 50 cents a month, is then redistributed by the Operation Round Up Board of Directors. MVEA is not involved in the determination of fund usage.
